GRAIN In THE FRAME

A group exhibition celebrating the craft of film photography

February 7 - March 21, 2026

About

Grain in the Frame celebrates the vitality of contemporary film photography. In an era of digital immediacy, these Bay Area photographers choose the deliberate practice of analog image-making—embracing grain, process, and the irreplaceable quality of light captured on film.

From 35mm to large format, black-and-white to color, each photographer brings their own vision to the enduring tradition of film. Whether printed in traditional darkrooms, rendered as pigment prints, or translated through inkjet processes, this exhibition showcases work made with intention, patience, and respect for the medium's unique characteristics. These images remind us that film photography isn't nostalgia, it's an ongoing practice of seeing, making, and creating photographs that deserve time.

Featuring work by Adam Chin, Alex Starfield, Alexander Iglesias, Andrew Chasin, Arvian Heidir, Aviv Delgadillo, Bill Helsel, Jan Watten, Jeff Heyman, Jerome Szymczak, Ken Banks, Laura Jaeger, Michael Mangus, Nadine Defranoux, Rob Hamner, and Westeigh.
