Made in Alameda was Frame 1A’s inaugural exhibition, bringing together twelve photographers whose work emerged from Alameda on Camera, the annual photography event organized by the Frank Bette Center for the Arts.
Opening the room with work connected to Alameda was intentional. Rather than beginning with a single style or curatorial theme, the exhibition started with place: different photographers looking at the same city, its streets, architecture, people, landscape, and everyday details from distinctly different points of view.
The photographs vary widely in subject and approach, but together they form a partial portrait of Alameda as it was being seen by people actively photographing it.
For Frame 1A, Made in Alameda marked both a beginning and a statement of proximity: before looking outward, the room began by paying attention to what was already being made around it.

About Alameda on Camera
Alameda on Camera is an annual photography event organized by the Frank Bette Center for the Arts that invites photographers to interpret Alameda through their own perspectives.
Over time, the project has created an evolving visual record of the city through many independent viewpoints, making it both a recurring exhibition opportunity and a form of local photographic memory.
