Photography deserves room for attention.

Frame 1A is a 150-square-foot artist-run photography space in Alameda, built for photographs and the ideas that gather around them. A room where artists can show work directly, where visitors can look closely, ask questions, return, and meet the people who made what is on the wall.

You do not need to understand photography to be here, you only need to stand in front of it and pay attention.

Because we are small, we can take risks. We can invite photographers who may never have shown before, support artists as they are finding their footing, and make room for experiments, conversations, and work that matters even when it is not conventional.

Projects like SLAP IT UP and The Challenge Lab are part of that. So are the exhibitions, artist conversations, and small gatherings we are beginning to build next.
