Challenge Lab is an ongoing photography experiment from Frame 1A. Each challenge begins with a single prompt and asks photographers to respond with one image.

There is no right response and no shared style to arrive at. The prompt is simply a starting point, what happens after that is up to you.

Submitted photographs are presented together in the Challenge Lab archive on the Frame 1A website with photographer credit. There are no winners and the photographs remain the property of their makers. Where the work goes from there is intentionally open. A Challenge Lab may eventually become an exhibition, a book, or take another form we haven't imagined yet. Part of the experiment is allowing the responses to help determine what comes next.

Any camera works. Phone, film, digital, disposable, borrowed or broken. The tool is never the point. What matters is what you see.
